"Erika took both our engagement and wedding photos. Her work was outstanding. There were so many great shots, I had a hard time choosing. I couldn't have asked for a better photographer and recommend her to everyone." -Elaina, Emerald Isle, NC Destination Wedding
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is your style of wedding photography?
My style varies throughout the day. During the ceremony and reception, I use a photojournalistic approach by capturing moments as they unfold. Generally, we will do some portraits before the wedding and immediately following the ceremony and at these times my style is a combination of traditional and artistic.
2. How many weddings have you photographed?
I have been the primary photographer for over 30 weddings and assisted other photographers with many more weddings.
3. Will there be a second shooter?
Yes, all of my wedding packages include a second shooter who will capture different angles throughout the day and assist in posing during all portraits to ensure they are finished quickly so you can get back to enjoying the day.
4. What camera equipment do you use? Do you use natural or artificial lighting?
I shoot with high quality Canon DSLRs. My main camera is a Canon 5d Mark iii and I have a variety of lenses. I use both natural and artificial lighting at almost every wedding. Some churches and venues have beautiful natural lighting and no supplemental lighting. Other churches are darker and I may use flash as needed, unless not permitted by the officiant. Make sure you check with your officiant on the photography rules for the ceremony venue.
5. How many pictures will I receive from my wedding day and when will I receive them?
The average is around 600 images per wedding. This really depends on the timeline of the day and the number of guests and varies for each wedding. I do not limit the amount of images I shoot throughout the day so some weddings receive more than 600 images. You will be able to view your images online no later than one month after the wedding. Digital files may be downloaded at that time, by the bride and groom along with family and friends if you wish.
6. What areas do you service? Will there be a travel fee for my wedding?
I am based in Washington, PA and travel up to 20 miles without any additional fees. I do photograph weddings which are further away as well as destination weddings and the fees are based on actual travel expenses on a case by case basis.
7. Can I see the images from an entire wedding day?
8. How do I know you are the right photographer for us?
Choosing the right photographer for your wedding is one of the most important decisions you will make. I have spent many years working on my skills and continue to invest thousands each year in my photography education. Photography is one field where there is always more to learn and expanding my skill set and learning about new techniques is very important to me.
As you plan your wedding, the costs will begin to add up. Even if I am not the right photographer for your wedding, I strongly urge you to choose a professional photographer who can consistently deliver high quality images because there are no opportunities for a redo.
The best way to determine if I am the right photographer for you is to schedule a time to meet in person. I always meet with couples before signing a contract. It is essential to me that we are a good fit personality wise because you spend so much of your wedding day with your photographer. You may also schedule an engagement session with me prior to booking your wedding.
9. How do I book you for my wedding?
The first step is to see if I am available for your wedding date. Please use the contact form or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. If I am available, the next step will to meet in person where we will get to know one another a little bit and you will be able to see albums and other products in person.
"My husband and I asked Erika to do our engagement photographs as well as our wedding photographs. Erika is very flexible and is willing to try new props and poses. I usually do not like the way that I look in photographs, but I could not find any pictures that I did not like. Erika made doing our engagement pictures so much fun which I think helped to show the love that we have for each other. Our pictures looked very genuine and captured the emotion. I could not wait for our wedding because I knew she would take great photos! Erika knows how busy things get right before the wedding so she works with you on a plan for group photos and photo spots prior to the event. This gives you one less thing to worry about during those last few days. When you plan a wedding, you put so much thought and time into all of the special details of the day and Erika does a great job at capturing those details. I look at my pictures and feel like I'm reliving that day all over again. During my receiving line, Erika and her photographers captured photographs of my grandfather, standing for the first time in over a year, to give me a hug. Words cannot express how much this meant to me and my family. Looking back at the pictures, I am truly amazed at all of the special moments that they caught because at times I forgot they were there. It was so nice to have a photographer that caught everything but didn't get in the way of the guests having fun! Our pictures looked like they were from a fairytale. I also used the photo booth option. This was a HUGE hit with my guests!!! Everyone had so much fun with all of the props! The pictures from the photo booth are so nice because it gives you a chance to get pictures of all of your guests and, of course, laugh at all the funny things they do! Erika Hatfield Photography has done several weddings for my friends and family and every time was a huge success! I HIGHLY recommend her!!"
"Erika's artistry is unmatched. She is a truly amazing photographer! Erika did our engagement photographs and our wedding photographs. Let's start with the engagement photographs, they were simply breathtaking. Erika is so flexible and had amazing ideas on what kinds of photographs would look great. We climbed rocks and all kinds of fun things and there was not a single picture that we did not like. A wedding day is such an important day for everyone and you want those photographs to always remember that day. I am so glad I went with Erika Hatfield Photography. She captured every single special moment from that day. We will cherish every single photograph that she took. There was not one single one we did not love! The wedding album she created was gorgeous and very detail oriented. I cannot say enough kind words about what an amazing and FUN photographer Erika is, everyone absolutely loved her. She is truly a talented photographer and anyone would be lucky to have her photograph their wedding. I cannot wait to use her again in June and August for my maternity and newborn pictures."
